Care:

Tanzanite ranks 6-7 on the Moh’s hardness scale. This means it is susceptible to break when it hits or dashes against a hard surface.

Avoid sudden temperature changes and harsh abrasives to maintain the quality of Tanzanite.  One must avoid exposure to hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids to prevent damage to the stone and maintain it.

To maintain your jewelry, check the settings of the tanzanite stone. In case you see a loose setting, always go back to the jeweler where you bought it from and get it inspected.

Never steam clean or use ultrasonic cleaning methods to clean the tanzanite as the high heat and high frequency vibrations can damage the cleavage of the stone.

Tanzanite jewelry is delicate, and rings and bracelets should not be worn in daily use. Necklaces and earrings are less susceptible to contact with any surfaces that may harm them, and so can be worn daily. Regular contact with water will dull the stone and lose its luster.

Cleaning:

Clean your jewelry with just soapy, warm water since Tanzanite is a delicate stone which can scratch or break easily.

Make sure to rinse Tanzanite well as the soapy water can dull the stone. A clean and soft cloth can be used to polish the top of the stone to make it shine like it is new. You can also get the ring professionally cleaned, but ensure that the cleaner does not use steam or high frequency vibration cleaning.
